Painting Potpourri 2.0

Description

Welcome to the continuation of our painting potpourri class (the first course is NOT a prerequisite)! Students will continue to focus on the bold and fast techniques of “fast and loose” painting. However, we will delve into the practical applications of these techniques and will experiment with a variety of styles, including realism, painterly, impressionist, non-representational, expressionist, fauvist, and abstract. We will forge ahead mixing colors for vibrancy and creating a range of shades and tones. We will start by learning how to mix colors to create darks and blacks, as well as colorful grays. We will also explore techniques for mixing greens for landscape paintings and flesh tones for faces and figures. Each painting will include learning about how to paint, light and shadow, color and mood, and composition and contrast. Throughout the class, we will focus on building your skills and confidence as a painter, and you will have the opportunity to create your own unique works of art.
