This course is an agglomeration (a collection of things) of the teachings of Gerhard Richter’s squeegee painting, pastillage reliefs of Yvette Mayorga, bird and flower Chinese brush paintings of Cui Ruzhuo, figurative flat shapes of Alex Katz, Miriam Shapiro’s fabric masterpieces, Julie Mehretu’s ink on vellum paper, painting and collage with Beatriz Milhazes and last but not least the marker comps of Joanne Greenbaum! We learn by doing and this course is a dabble in lots of different ways to create art! Embark on Mr. Toad’s wild ride and create lots of fun art all the while exploring your voice as an artist!

My work expresses my love of nature and my observations of flowers and fauna. I use the abstract language of bold color, varying textures, shapes, and pattern to interpret the geometric and organic forms. I take a tiny sliver of an element that inspires me and magnify it to highlight, and show off its complexities, intricate layers, patterns and design.
